Every time we attend the Kinderfestival at the Hortus in Haren, we love it! There are so many things to discover and explore. The best part is the feel-good sensation you get after a very interesting and engaging day. Like-minded people who enjoy nature and want to learn about science and nature come together every year for this special occasion.

I am thrilled to announce that @Evooolve will be part of the Hortus Kinderfestival 2024 on September 8th!

Everyone in Groningen knows that the only downside of this festival is that tickets are very limited compared to the demand. Be sure to buy them as soon as possible if you want to join in!

I’m excited to share the excellent work from the

I’m excited to share the excellent work from the team at RUG’s Software Engineering course! 🌟 Last week, they submitted their project, and tomorrow they’re presenting it.

They’ve completed the first version of the Evooolve app, which we tested with 5 children aged 4 to 10. The app is available in English, Dutch, and Italian. 🌍

The app offers two fun modes:

Non-competitive: Solve puzzles and learn about different species and categories.
Competitive: Play with 1, 2, or 3 cards (Macro-Micro, Invertebrates, or Vertebrates) and let biodiversity win! 🦋🌿
It was wonderful to see how engaged everyone was with their work. Well done, team! 👏

🌿 We’ve been busy behind the scenes, and we’re excited to share some news! 🌿

We’re partnering with the amazing Hortus Botanicus of Haren, a top historic institution for nature and biodiversity preservation in Groningen (NL).

We recently held a fun workshop with 12-year-olds as part of the “Vlinders in mijn buik” (Butterflies in my stomach) school program. 🦋 This activity dives into the fascinating world of reproduction strategies in nature, sparking curiosity and emotions!

Our workshop focused on the unique species within the Hortus and their connections. It was an unforgettable experience for everyone involved!

Dezelfde methode om punten te behouden kan worden gebruikt voor meerdere kaarten (met een bonus als je een kaart voltooit) en voor de kleinere kaarten, die zonder afbeeldingen!
Ik weet niet zeker of je het weet, maar we zijn vrij recent naar Nederland verhuisd. We hielden van het avontuur, maar onze spreekvaardigheid is er nog niet.
Laat het me weten als er iets veranderd moet worden...
Dat zou enorm helpen!

Amoebae do not have a fixed body shape and are similar to a blob of jelly.
By changing its shape, the amoeba creates leg/feet-like extensions of its body, which it uses to move around or gather food.
This particular amoeba can grow up to 5 millimeters!
Luckily it is herbivorous.

Sometimes we forget how much importance some events have in history: like Pasteur and this bacterium.

It was first discovered by Louis Pasteur in 1881.
Louis Pasteur (1822-1895) was a French biologist, microbiologist and chemist famous for his discoveries. Here are just a few of them:
- the principles of vaccination,
- microbial fermentation
-pasteurization.
His work has saved many lives.
